Sell your browser extension business.

We look for paid browser extensions that people use every day: for developers, writers, researchers and anyone who works in a browser.

§ T.1

Does Playbook Media buy browser extensions?Part of our developer tools search.

Fig. T.1Short answer

Yes, when the extension has paying users who renew, a clean record with the browser stores and an update process that someone else can run.

  • Good fit: paid extensions with a subscription or a recurring licence.
  • We look for: a good store record, steady reviews and documented permissions.
  • After a sale: we keep permissions to the minimum the extension needs.

§ T.2

Why this kind of business can last.Browser extensions

An extension that people use every day becomes part of how they work.

Small, focused extensions can last for years when they keep up with browser changes.

Trust matters more for extensions than for most software, because of the access they have.

§ T.3

Strong and weaker signals. What we look for first.

Strong fit

  • Paid users on a subscription or an annual licence.
  • Store listings in good standing, with a clear review history.
  • Permissions that match what the extension does.

Weaker fit

  • Revenue from advertising or data sale.
  • A history of store removals or policy warnings.
  • Dependence on one website’s page structure.

§ T.4

What happens after a sale.Continuity first.

Store accounts, signing keys and update channels move with care. We plan this transfer before ownership changes.

We add a permission only when a feature needs it, and we explain why. We do not add tracking to an extension that users already trust.

We do not buy to resell, and we do not plan around an immediate rewrite or unsupported price increases.

§ T.5

Questions founders ask.About browser extensions.

Can a store account transfer?

Usually, but each store has its own rules. We review the rules and plan the transfer during the records review.

Do you buy free extensions?

Not in our first search. We look for extensions that people pay for.

Is this a separate search?

No. The same search profile applies to every business type: $5k–$20k in monthly recurring revenue and three to eight years of history are preferences, not cut-offs.
