§ T.1

Does Playbook Media buy course and membership software?Part of our creator software search.

Fig. T.1Short answer

Yes, when the software is the product, customers renew it, and payments and access work reliably.

  • Good fit: course hosting, membership tools and cohort platforms sold as software.
  • We look for: creators who run their business on the tool for years.
  • After a sale: student access and creator payouts keep working.

§ T.2

Why this kind of business can last.Course software

A creator who hosts courses and members on a tool builds their business on it. Moving is hard.

Payments, access rules and student records make the tool a system of record.

Simple tools for small creators can outlast large platforms that serve large schools.

§ T.3

Strong and weaker signals. What we look for first.

Strong fit

  • Creators on subscription plans, not one-off fees.
  • Payment and access flows with few support issues.
  • Clear terms for refunds and student data.

Weaker fit

  • A marketplace business that depends on selling other people’s courses.
  • High refund or dispute rates.
  • Payment flows that only the founder understands.

§ T.4

What happens after a sale.Continuity first.

Students keep their access, and creators keep their payouts. We test both before and after the handover.

We improve onboarding for new creators only after the core flows are stable.

We do not buy to resell, and we do not plan around an immediate rewrite or unsupported price increases.

§ T.5

Questions founders ask.About course and membership software.

Do you buy course marketplaces?

Not in our first search. Marketplaces need different skills. We look for software that creators pay for.

What about student data?

It moves only in a way that the law and the terms allow, and we review it during the records review.

Is this a separate search?

No. The same search profile applies to every business type: $5k–$20k in monthly recurring revenue and three to eight years of history are preferences, not cut-offs.
